Our Beliefs

The basis of our faith is our sole reliance on the truth of the Holy Bible as God’s Word to his people, written by various men, but inspired by the Holy Spirit.  We believe that the creeds of the church, namely The Apostle’s Creed, The Nicene Creed and The Athanasian Creed are statements of faith that are consistent with the teaching of the Bible, and in addition we subscribe to The Three Forms of Unity, namely The Heidelberg Catechism, The Belgic Confession and the Canons of Dort as confessional documents that accurately summarize the Holy Scriptures.

From this Word we understand and believe that salvation can only be found in Jesus Christ as God’s Holy Son, and is rooted in His death as payment for our sin and His resurrection as triumph over evil and our full restoration to God as children of our heavenly Father.  We believe that the church is the gathering work of Jesus Christ over the whole world, and our congregation is a local manifestation of His work.  We believe that the scriptures teach that everyone who believes should join the church.  We also believe that one day Christ will return to gather His church to Himself as He has promised in His Word.

Our mission as church is also rooted in Holy Scripture: that we faithfully proclaim His Word each Sunday in the regular preaching and teaching, that we exercise, maintain and uphold the sanctity of the sacraments, namely baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and that we call all people to daily repentance from sin, to faith in Jesus Christ, and to live a renewed life now in thankfulness to our God.

We believe that this mission can only be achieved by us as members of the church through the grace of God.
